Old Alabama Town is located in Montgomery, AL and consists of six blocks of the authentic nineteenth and twentieth-century buildings. All of the buildings have been saved from demolition, completely restored as well as opened as a historical museum. The buildings encompass the way early Americans lived and worked in Central Alabama. Group tours, school tours, and self-guided tours are available. These buildings are in the heart of downtown Montgomery. Tourists to the area will see antebellum mansions, slave quarters, log cabins, grist mills, one room school houses, and cotton gins. The village is open year around and is considered an outdoor history museum.

Ordeman House was the first building bought in 1967 by the Landmarks Foundation and City of Montgomery. There are more than fifty restored buildings within the six blocks that Old Alabama Town encompasses. Some of the other buildings that are available for touring include Queen Anne Cottages, Dorsey Cottage and Shanty, Nall-Young House, Ware-Farley House, Molton House, Davis-Cook House, Campbell-Holtzclaw Cottage, Mayor Reese Cottage, Graves-Haigler House, Martin-Barnes House, Lucas Tavern, Ordeman-Mitchell-Shaw House, Davis-Cook House Cookhouse, Cram-Lakin House, Thompson Manison, Grist Mill, Blacksmith Shop, Clanton Kitchen, Brittan-Dennis House, Church, Cotton Gin, Corner Grocery Store, Adams Chapel School, Log Cabin & Pole Barn, Country Doctor's House, Carriage House, Rose-Morris House, Shotgun House, Dogtrot, Gallagher House, Grange Hall, Noble House, and the Carpenter's Shop. The oldest structure is Lucas Tavern. It was built in 1810 and the latest structure was built in 1915.

Old Alabama Town is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. At 3:00 pm, the last ticket is sold so that visitors can have time to tour the buildings and grounds. They are closed on Sunday, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Admission is 10 dollars for adults, 5 dollars for children ages 6 to 18. Children under five cost nothing. There is a ten percent discount offered to AAA members, seniors and military personnel. Parking is without any charge across from the Loeb Reception Center. It is at the corner of Columbus St. and N. Food at Old Alabama Town, one of the Alabama tourist attractions consists of some candy and soft drinks from a machine at the gift shop. Visitors are welcome at Kiwanis Park adjacent to the Loeb Reception Center to have a picnic lunch. However, there are several restaurants within walking distance of Old Alabama Town. Bandanas Restaurant features country cooking and is open Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Farmers Market Cafe serves breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm. The menu comprises a home style breakfast or lunch served cafeteria style as well as a full menu with sandwiches, salads, BBQ, and burgers. The third restaurant is Tucker Pecan Co that features snack food such as Southern treats as well as an ice cream bar. The shop is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
